Our second student of the day is Madison Washington, a sophmore at Vallejo High School in Vallejo, California. Madison is a unique young lady who holds a 4.0 GPA. She participates in soccer and leadership on her campus. She approached me last year with an interest in starting the Black Student Union on the campus. Not only did she ask questions, but she started the BSU this year. The BSU is now very active on the campus. Qualities that I admire about her, are her leadership skills and her devotion to her studies. She is on this trip carrying a heavy chemistry book studying for the Advance Placement test for next year. It is very obvious that this young lady is going places.
